Another Symbiote Smackdown? Venom 2 Is Officially In Development

Hello nerds!

They are Venom, we want more and now a sequel is happening. While Venom 2 was virtually a lock following the ridiculous amount of money Venom made, currently over $800 million, it is nice to have confirmation it’s official.

Per a report from Variety, Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams are set to return as Eddie Brock/Venom and Anne Weying. And following his debut in the post-credits scene from the first Venom is Woody Harrelson as the maniacal serial killer turned symbiote-host, Cletus Kasady aka Carnage. While it’s true, Cletus looked shockingly like Winifred Sanderson, I’m sure they’ll fix his hair before it’s canon.

All in all, the Venom-verse is shaping up quite nicely for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to eventually take over. Between Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck aka Mysterio making his debut and the rumored inclusion of  Vulture, Scorpion and Chameleon, we are oh so very close to getting the Sinister Six. Which is nice.

Having just been announced, there’s no release date for this one, but Sony has a couple of films slated for release in 2020. So, the most likely candidates for those slots are Jared Leto's Morbius and Venom 2. There’s also no director as of yet, because Venom helmer Ruben Fleischer is likely to be working on Zombieland 2.

I wonder if James Gunn is available?
