Baldwin. Ford. Affleck. Halpert? John Krasinski to star in "Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan"

Jim Halpert got all rocked out and turned action hero on us recently and he looks to continue on in the action genre. The ever smirking John Krasinski is set to star in "Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan" on Amazon, and he'll be joined by RoboCop's Abbie Cornish. In a "reinvention" of the character first brought to live action by Alec Baldwin in "The Hunt for Red October", Krasinski is fifth actor to don the scowl and slacks of the titular hero.

Starring John Krasinski and Abbie Cornish, Jack Ryan is a reinvention with a modern sensibility of the famed and lauded Tom Clancy hero. It centers on Jack Ryan (Krasinski), an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. The series follows Ryan as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale. Cornish plays Jack’s love interest Cathy Mueller.

What do you think nerds? Outside of The Office and Monsters University, I haven't seen JK act in anything so I'm not really sure how to feel about this show. He was deep in the running to play Captain America, so seeing him as the face of a spy/action series doesn't feel out of place. Here's hoping that Jack Ryan's mentor is Michael Scarn. Somebody get me Steve Carell!
