Because why the FX not? Legion is not connected to the X-Men movies

In an effort to further confuse and possibly anger fans, X-Men universe producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed in an interview with Collider that the X-Men TV shows and films will not share a universe.

"...You feel like you're here in the X-Men world. With Legion, we're our own universe. It gives Noah (Hawley) the freedom to do what he wants to do. Because we play with so many different timelines, and we rebooted and not really rebooted and all that, we felt like, OK, we're going to throw it out there and hope the fans accept it...

...The cinematic universe will not worry about Legion. They will not worry about these TV worlds at all. They will just continue in the way that they have been continuing, and there is some great stuff that we are developing. I can just say it's going to be new and different, and yet Legion and our other show, we're not going to get in each other's way."

Is it silly to not have the connected worlds? Look at the Marvel TV shows and how much they connect to the films? Oh wait, other than the fact they're in the same universe these properties by and large do not interact. But at least the option is there and while the events of the films affect the TV shows, they are not the driving force of them. Each is its own little world in a larger universe and it's a lovely web to explore and play around in.

I'm not saying that everything has to be connected. Anyone who follows the DCEU is already used to there being zero connection between the wildly popular DC TV shows and the abhorred DCU films, which is fine. Maybe it's better that way.

Come to think of it the films of the X-Men franchise barely connect to one another as it is. So the separate universes are a good thing? I was already on board with Legion as a show, so it not connecting to the films won't stop be from watching. What do you think nerds?

Legion premieres on Feb. 8, on FX.
