Come with me if you want to direct. James Cameron developing another Terminator movie!

Apparently the next 17 Avatar movies aren't enough to keep James Cameron busy.  Deadline is reporting that not only Cameron is regaining the some of the rights to the once beloved franchise, but he's also looking at doing another movie with Deadpool 1 director Tim Miller.

"EXCLUSIVE: He’ll be back! James Cameron, who regains certain rights to his prized creation The Terminator in 2019, is godfathering a new iteration of the film that might finally get it right in drawing a close in the battle between humans and Skynet. Sources said that Cameron, whose copyright reversion happens 35 years after the release of the 1984 classic, is in early talks with Deadpool director and VFX wiz Tim Miller to direct a reboot and conclusion of one of cinema’s great science fiction tales.

David Ellison, whose Skydance co-financed Terminator Genisys, is bankrolling an exploratory effort that includes engaging some top-flight science fiction authors to find the movie creatively. Ellison still holds many Terminator rights, after his 2013 acquisition from sister and Annapurna principal Megan Ellison. She bought them in 2011 at Cannes for $20 million."

If you can make sense out of any of that then job well done. Regardless of who owns what and where it is, the fact that James Cameron is returning to the world of Terminators is potentially the best thing this franchise has done since T2. Which is fitting because that's the last one of these movies that Cameron was really involved with.  Having Tim Miller (so hot right now) directing the movie is in no way terrible, and he's actually a really good fit for where T1 and T2 were headed.

Speaking of where the franchise is headed there's no word yet on if T6 will be a sequel or a reboot or a retcon. Maybe it'll be like T4 and T5 and be a rebooting sequel that retcons? Whatever T6 will be please keep the CGI Arnolds away.
