DC's Flashpoint To Be Directed By The Guys Who Rebooted "Vacation"

Hello nerds!

In a classic Warner Bros. move, their turning to the duo responsible for a few of the worst comedies of the past few years to be in charge of the Flash's first solo movie. And the misery continues.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is in talks with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to direct Flashpoint, which by my math makes them the studio's 3rd choice. WB's first choice (after director Rick Famuyiwa left) was current Batman, Ben Affleck. Lest we forget, Robert Zemeckis was also rumored to be considered, but it seems the studio wasn't interested in waiting for him to finish his current project.

Daley & Goldstein are touted as being two of the screenwriters on Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming, but let's not forget they were the first hired to write the script and then were replaced by director Jon Watts and Christopher Ford as writers. Plus, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers also did some writing on the movie and given their respective resumes, it's clear who actually "wrote" Spider-Man: Homecoming. Essentially, Daley & Goldstein can't really take any credit for Homecoming's success.

Unfortunately for fans of The Flash and the DCU at large, the only thing these two have really done is churn out vast amounts of horseshit such as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and the ill-conceived Vacation reboot. Why couldn't WB just wait for Robert Zemeckis?
