First Ben, Now Hank. Henry Cavill Is Out As Superman

Hello nerds!

Following the exit of Ben Affleck as Batman in the films of the main DC universe, it seems another member of the Justice League is on the way out as well.

Fans of the WB/DC movies have had a long tough road, that’s been filled with more terrible movies than good, and now thanks to a report from THR, we’ve got bad news. Henry Cavill is no longer Superman.

He can’t do a cameo, so why not start over with a new Superman? What in the fuck?

The report goes on to reveal the loss of Cavill could due in part to the underwhelming financial success of the character in MOS 1 & 2 and the Justice League, and the studio will instead look to Supergirl to take over for her cousin. All in all, it appears as the studio is indeed going through a bit of a soft reboot of the current DCEU, with Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher all set to reprise their respective roles as Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Cyborg.

Many fans take issue with this latest version of Kal-El and how he’s been portrayed, but hardly anyone blames Cavill. By and large, his performance as Clark Kent/Superman is well liked and given Ben Affleck won’t be back as Batman, Cavill really looked set to be the DCEU’s Robert Downey Jr. and lead the franchise for a decade or so.

So, him going from the presumed face of the franchise to completely out is a bit of a shock. Then again, if you think about it this all makes perfect sense, in the most WB/DC way possible. Meaning, it makes almost no frickin’ sense at all.
