From Behind The Mask To Before It. Leslie Vernon Returns?

Hello nerds!

Paradise might not yet be lost, because the long-awaited sequel to the CLASSIC that is Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon looks to finally be moving forward. After languishing in the hell of "it might get made" for a dozen or so years, the long-awaited movie might actually be picking up some momentum. Before the Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon could actually happen. So much fucking yay, everyone!

The official Facebook page for Before The Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon posted a pic of the stars of Behind The Mask, Nathan Baesel and Angela Goethals reuniting with director Scott Glosserman. While the photo alone would be enough to allow the speculation machine to fire up, it's the fact the trio appear to be pouring over an actual fucking script that make this grainy ass photo very exciting. Oh! Oh! And, it was hashtagged with #moviemagic and #itshappening.

Basically, shit yes! For those unfamiliar with this masterpiece of modern cinema, allow me to enlighten you. Think Spinal Tap meets Halloween.

It's very meta, very aware of itself and very well done. The film is shot documentary-style and focus on a young film crew as they meet the subject of their film, Leslie Vernon. Leslie is getting ready to make his big debut as a slasher. Yes, the documentary follows Leslie as he painstakingly tries to walk the film crew through the "less-than supernatural" paces of the stalking and eventual murdering a shitload of people. The film is nothing short of magnificent. Particularly, the stars of the film Nathan Baesel as Leslie, Angela Goethals as Taylor and the incomparable Mr. Robert Englund as Doc Halloran, are what make this movie special.

So special, in fact, fans of the film have been clamoring for a sequel from the moment the first one ended on an absolutely brilliant cliffhanger. To find out the cliffhanger, you'll have to watch the movie. I will not spoil it for you.

No word yet on the exact premise of the film, but you've got to figure it's likely to follow the 8-issue comic book, "Before the Mask: The Return of Leslie Vernon".  The comic is actually based off of the script they had for the sequel. The reason the comic was made to continue the story, was because a sequel being made seemed unlikely. At the time anyways.

So, before joining me in the getting up of our hopes this movie actually fucking happens, please treat yourselves Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon a viewing. It's rad.
