From God Of Thunder To Thunder Lips. Chris Hemsworth To Star In Netflix's Hulk Hogan Biopic

Hello nerds!

In the strangest but of fucking news I’ve typed this year, so far. An Avenger will take on the role of the founder of Hulkamania. We’re going from Asgard to Madison Square Garden. For reals.

Per a report from THR, Chris Hemsworth will both star in the Hulk Hogan biopic as the mustachioed, bleach-blonde behemoth, as well as producing the movie. And in an odd Marvel connection, the voice behind Thor’s “Sweet Rabbit”, Bradley Cooper, is a producer on the movie.

The report also notes, WWE Hall of Famer and somewhat gross human Terry Bollea, aka the IRL Hulkster, will also produce the movie. Scott Silver will write the script for the biopic, with Todd Phillips directing the film that is said to focus on the early days of Hogan’s wrestling career and the rise of the aforementioned Hulkamania. Phillips working with both Thor and Rocket Raccoon on this movie keeps him pretty near the world of comic books, as this should be his next project after directing DC’s first, non-connected movie with Joaquin Phoenix absolutely killing it as The Joker.

Say what you will about the run of “ups and downs” Bollea has had in his personal and professional life, but the pop culture icon that is Hulk Hogan still looms a bit large to some. As a true child of 80s, when professional wrestling had its first bout of success, I’m intrigued to see what aspects of Hogan’s storied in-ring career the movie will focus on. Naturally, thoughts turn to whom will be playing other familiar faces of the era.

Let the fancast commence.
