Goodbye Captain, I'm Crying Over You. Chris Evans Is Done With The MCU?

Hello nerds!

We all knew this day was coming, but that does not mean we have to fucking like it. Chris Evans revealed that we've seen the last of him as  Steve Rogers aka The Sentinel of Liberty aka Captain America in the MCU. Motherfucker!

In an interview with The New York Times, Evans confirms the he's finished filming scenes as Captain America and barring any reshoots, he's officially hung up the shield. And no, he doesn't really leave the door open for a possible return.

Yikes. While this revelation isn't particularly shocking, but shit. It still stings. We had previously heard Evans' contract had actually expired after Avengers: Infinity War, and he extended it in order to wrap things up in Avengers 4. So, at the very least we'll get to see Steve's story play out before he inevitable is murdered by Thanos in Infinity War.

Hats off to Evans because his performances as Steve Rogers over the last decade have been some of the strongest the MCU has to offer. And I didn't even mention that, arguably, he's got the best "solo" movies of the entire MUC, to date, and Evans suiting up as Cap is a gigantic part of it.

A brief glimpse at the Twitter and you'll see a fair amount of people who are happy for Evans and another group that are seemingly devastated by the news and are holding out the hope that he'll renew his contract. As for me, I'll definitely miss seeing Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, but I'm quite looking forward to Anthony Mackie or Sebastian Stan taking up the mantle of Captain America in Phase 4 and beyond.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theatres on April 27, 2018.
