Haters, Back Off. Captain Marvel 2 Is Officially In Development

After it made over a $1 billion at the box office, it’s no surprise to learn a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel is officially happening.
According to THR, Captain Marvel 2 is in development at Marvel Studios, with Brie Larson returning as our titular hero. Interestingly, there’s currently no director for this movie as Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the writers and directors of the first Captain Marvel, won’t be coming back. The report states Marvel is currently looking for a female director to oversee the further adventures of Carol Danvers, while WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell is attached to write the script this time around.
Unfortunately, plot details are scarce right now, but the movie is rumored to be set in the present day.
So, with her being poised as one of the leaders of the “new” Avengers, we should be seeing Captain Marvel kick plenty of ass in the near future; alien and human alike.
Captain Marvel 2 will likely hit theaters in 2022.
