He Was Negan, Now He Is Astronaut. Steven Ogg Is Hurtling Towards The Sun In Solis
Hello nerds!
The trailer for writer and director Carl Strathie’s first feature-length film looks promising as fuck. Starring the uber-creepy Simon from The Walking Dead, aka Steven Ogg, Solis is about dude who following an accident, is trapped in an uncontrollable escape pod and is meandering wildly about space. To make matters worse, he finds he's indeed super-fucked because the pod is headed right for the Sun.
Get the eff out! This movie looks fantastic and how about Steven Ogg? I knew he had it in him to play a non-creep and boy howdy, it looks like he put in one hell of a performance in this movie. And for this being his "big screen" debut as a writer/director, Carl Strathie is definitely bringing his "A" game right out of the box.
In an interview with ScreenDaily, Strathie lists a couple of Sci-Fi giants as inspiration for his film and based upon the trailer, you'll definitely get a sense of them in the film.
Fan-effing-tastic. I was sold on the trailer alone, but reading what Strathie had to say is a bonus. It's always more enjoyable when someone is passionate about what they're making, instead of just farting out some nonsense. Plus, a more than intriguing, even spoilery, plot synopsis was provided in the same article and it doesn't want to make me see the movie any less.
Any Sci-fi movie that successfully blends practical FX with CGI, has a truly interesting plot and boasts an impressive cast more often than not is a success; financially and critically. And ss far as Sci-Fi thrillers go, based on the trailer, Solis looks like it could stand among some of the greats.
Solis blasts its into theaters sometime this year.
