Hello nerds!

The first trailer director Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man has arrived, and this could be the one reboot of a classic Universal monster movie that actually works.

The Invisible man stars Elisabeth Moss (Handmaid's Tale) as Cecilia Kass, whom after escaping an abusive relationship with evil scientist Adrian Griffin, played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House), seemingly starts to lose her grip on reality.

Following Adrian’s apparent suicide, Cecilia’s life starts crumble as it looks like she’s being haunted by a ghost. Well, she soon begins to suspect that not only is her ex the ghost, but he is in fact alive, invisible, and trying to drive her insane and then kill her. Fucking terrifying.

It’s bit of Sleeping WIth The Enemy meets the Invisible Man. Both of which are scary enough on their own, and Whannell has blended them for what looks to be a fantastically frightening monster movie. The concept of the Invisible Man has been done a few times over the years; with much worse results.

For those who haven’t seen them, Hollow Man 1 & 2, and The Memoirs of the Invisible Man, were absolute shit shows. So, the bar for a good movie about a psycho that can’t be seen is fairly low at this point. However, after several failed attempts at rebooting their classic monster movies, Universal might be on the right track with Whannell’s take.

The Invisible Man appears in theaters on February 28, 2020.
