How Late Is Too Late? A Sequel To Tango & Cash Could Happen
Hello nerds!
According to one of the stars of the original film, 1989’s Tango and Cash might finally see the light of day. And when you’re done passing yourselves with laughter, please know that Sylvester Stallone is all for it.
In a new chat with Fandango, Stallone says he’d like to revisit the world of Tango and Cash. And he sounds pretty keen to get it done.
Though don’t get your hopes up too much, as it seems a potential roadblock for Stallone is trying to convince his former co-star, the great and lovely Kurt Russell, to give it another go. Russell’s response to Stallone’s pitch was less enthusiastic.
Bummer, but all hope is not yet lost. Stallone thinks he can talk Russell into doing the sequel. Even if it might be about a decade or two too late for some.
Being a fan of nearly the entire Stallone catalog, and my unyielding adoration for Kurt Russell, if this movie happens I will most assuredly see it. Twice. However, I don’t know very many people, myself notwithstanding, are clamoring to see Ray Tango and Gabriel Cash mix it up in another high energy action movie.
Although, everything from the 80s and 90s is being redone these days, so why not let two of the all-time greats dust off the sorely missed buddy-cop genre? Especially, if Sly himself is primed and eager. Let’s hope he can convince Kurt Russell to get in on the action.
Someone better dust off Cash’s gun boots, because Tango’s already in an Armani suit.
