In The Quantum Realm, No One Can Hear You Scream. Marvel's Ant-Man And The Wasp Mid-Credits Scene Spoilers
Hello nerds!
One day, Captain Marvel will return to save the Avengers, but until then we've got Ant-Man and The Wasp to lighten the tone of the MCU back up a bit. Well, we thought we had that.
Most of Ant-Man and The Wasp takes place directly following the events of Civil War. As it happens, the mid-credits scene "plays catch up" and ties directly to the “Snap Heard Round The Universe” in Avengers: Infinity War. Sad times.
The recently reunited family of Hank Pym, Janet and Hope and Janet Van Dyne are all monitoring Scott as he's speaking to the from the Quantum Realm; he's there working on a mission for Ghost who is no longer a villian.
Anywho, after a few moments of Scott talking too much and not hearing anything in return, he starts to worry a bit. And it's at this moment the scene takes us back to where the dusty remnants of the Pym's are floating in the wind and we faintly hear Ant-Man's last words fade away into the obscurity of the Quantum Realm.
Dude. That fucking sucks. If anyone else from this movie, besides Ant-Man, who would be safe from "The Snap", it should be Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp. The way Marvel has been building her, I was quite looking forward to her teaming up with Captain Marvel when she returns to save the day. But, I guess I should have seen this coming.
The Wasp was suspiciously absent from that leaked promo art showing exactly whom Carol will be teaming up with in Avenger 4. Plus, there was no mention of her being amongst the other returning heroes, who are teaming with the Avengers to fix the universe and best the Mad Titan when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
Until then we've got Ant-Man and The Wasp in theaters on July 6, 2018.
Oh, almost forgot. In an effort to not totally smash our hearts into little bits, the post-credits scene tries to re-insert some humor, but largely will fall flatter than shit. Especially, since it was already shown in the trailer. It's the giant ant playing the drums at Scott's House.
