Is Spider-Man The New Face Of The MCU? Homecoming 2 Details Revealed!

Hello friends.

There's been some back and forth from the producers of Spider-Man about how exactly he fits into the Sony Spidey-verse and the MCU, but we finally have the sort of vague confirmation one expects from a superhero movie. And by the looks of it all, we're going to be seeing an effload of Spider-Man in the coming years.

During an interview with Fandom, Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige addressed Spider-Man's place in both film universes and offered some details about when Homecoming 2 takes place. According to Pascal, Spidey and pals are all Marvel characters and the Sony movies will acknowledge that. Just don't expect to see Venom popping up in the films of the MCU.

Feige seemed to agree as he thought Pascal gave “the perfect answer”. See? Nothing that we already hadn't counted on. It sounds like the Venom lead Sony Spidey-Verse will be treated like the Marvel Netflix shows, MCU adjacent. However, I would expect that as Spider-man rakes in the dough at the box office like, he's expected to, things might change. This notion could be confirmed by Pascal not exactly closing the door on seeing Spider-Man pop up in the Venom movie.

$5 says "someday" means a post-credits scene in Venom 1. Kevin Feige seems to agree with Amy Pascal by giving the templated MCU response of "never say never".

Lastly, much like Homecoming 1 starts right after Civil War, Pascal reveals the currently untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 starts off almost exactly where the also untitled Avengers 4 ends.

Taking all of this into account and add it to Feige's recent comments to i09, it certainly seems as though Tom Holland is being set-up to take over for Robert Downey Jr. as the new face of the MCU. The MCU head honcho spilled quite a few surprises as to why Spider-Man is the one to kick things off.

If Infinity War is going to be the emotional rollercoaster we all know it will be, I think we can definitely expect the events of Avengers 4 and Homecoming 2 to restore the hope to the MCU and there's no better candidate to lead the charge than Spider-Man. What do you think?
