It's Like Deadpool Meets Pokemon In The Official Trailer For Detective Pikachu

To the delight of fans across the globe, Pokemon are going live action and from the looks of the official trailer, it could actually be a good movie.
Detective Pikachu, written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls), and directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps), stars Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith, and is an adaption of the video game of the same name. The story follows Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, a would be Pokémon trainer who apparently is the only person on the planet who can speak Pikachu. Or rather, he can understand one Pikachu in particular; the one voiced by Deadpool.
As for the film itself, it looks like a fantastic blend of live action and CGI, and with a few cameos from one of the more popular Pokémon, there’s plenty to keep your eyeballs busy. And even though it’s based on a children’s property, this trailer is surprisingly funny. Then again, given the involvement of the film’s two main stars and its writers, I’d be disappointed if it wasn’t.
As far as family friendly films go, I think parents could do far worse than to be “forced” to sit through this one. I’m fairly certain those involved will get in as many adult-skewing jokes as they can. So, I think taking a trip to the cinema to see this one is very likely. Plus, given the film’s release date, it might be a nice and easy film to enjoy following the MCU debut of Captain Marvel and the reality-shattering events of Avengers 4. (Fingers crossed Reynolds’ Wade Wilson makes his MCU appearance in that one, but if not, there’s always the X-Force movie)
