It's Proton Packs, Evil Spirits, And Nostalgia In The Trailer For Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Hello nerds!

Sony Pictures has released the trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and it is chock full of new faces, old friends, and spectral frights from the upcoming revival of the Ghostbuster’s franchise.

From director Jason Reitman, this new film focuses on Egon Spengler’s daughter and grandkids, as they relocate to a worn down mansion that was bequest to them by our beloved OG buster of ghosts. It’s in this house the kids happen upon some of their grandpa’s old gear and ghost-removal tech, including Ecto-1. But it’s not all smiles and fun, as something supernatural begins to awaken and terrorize the townsfolk.

From a few things in the trailer, me thinks Egon found another gate of Shandor before he passed. Which would explain the Gozarian-looking energy orbs and the return of the Terror Dogs. So, it’ll be up to a new team of Ghostbusters to save the day. And since the surviving boys in grey are confirmed to be in the movie as well, I’ve got a feeling they’ll join the fight to save the world.

As for the trailer itself, along with being introduced to the new squad of Junior Ghosbusters, there’s a plethora of fantastic visuals, supernatural shenanigans, and callbacks to the original two movies that give the sense this revival could be quite good. And it doesn’t hurt the trailer also features the return of both Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz and Dan Aykroyd as Ray Stantz, who is still found behind the counter at Ray's Occult Books. Which is lovely.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife starring Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Celeste O'Connor, and returning franchise cast members Dan Aykroyd Annie Potts, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver haunts theaters this November.

We sat down and watched some stuff. And then talked about it.

First up, the good, the bad, and the vexing of Marvel's Black Widow. Then, the mind-bending dopeness that are the final two episodes of Marvel's Loki and its impact on the Marvel multiverse. And a pair of familiar "faces" are rumored to appear in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
