Kingsman's Taron Egerton stars as a young Elton John, and from the looks and sounds of the trailer, it’s disgustingly brilliant casting. Egerton embodies every aspect of Sir Elton, singing included.
Rocketman is the origin story of on John's early days as the somewhat low-key, Reginald Dwight, and how he morphs into the glittery, bespectacled carnival that is Elton John. This particular biopic is smothered in fantasy, and being about Sir Elton John, it fucking well should be.
Starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Bell, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Richard Madden, the film was written by Lee Hall, with Dexter Fletcher serving as director. And following the fantastic job he did with the mess that was Bohemian Rhapsody, I like Fletcher and co.’s chances of telling an amazing story.
Rocketman blasts into theaters on May 31, 2019.
