Never Reboot Them After Midnight. A Gremlins Movie Is In Development
Hello nerds!
In the continuing trend of reboots, rehashes, revivals and refucking ups, yet another beloved movie of the 80s is being remade. This time around it's the immortal classic, 1984's Gremlins. I think they've just about got them all covered by this point.
In an interview with Metro US, Gremlins 1 writer/director Chris Columbus, let slip we can expect to see a new Gremlins movie, only it won't be a sequel. He's looking to restart the franchise and after the abysmal Gremlins 2: The New Batch, I'm all for it.
For most reboots of franchises from my childhood, I'm usually not very excited. Normally, they fail to capture the essence of the original and most efforts made to modernize it often times fail. Miserably.
However, Columbus is the creator of these hilariously eerie little lizard-humanoids, so I'm willing to cut him some slack here. Everything we've seen from both the Hellboy and Halloween reboots look fucking amazing, so one tends to think Chris Columbus has this shit covered.
As for me, I hope they stick to practical FX for this one. Those creepy-ass little puppets are a thousand times cooler than any they could create with CGI. And someone slap Corey Feldman in a cryotube for a few months to try and "slow the poison". We don't want that "Wolfpack serum" to gank him before he can film a cameo.
How about you? Any of these reboots you're looking foward to?
