New Year, New Punishment. The Return Of Frank Castle Is Almost Here!
Hello nerds!
Following on the heels of Netflix’s cancellation of both Luke Cage and Iron Fist, we’ve got an official release date for the return of Marvel’s The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal, by way of an official teaser.
In the teaser, we get to see and hear both Frank Castle aka The Punisher and his former best friend turned enemy, Billy Russo aka Jigsaw. And folks, if you were worried they would be covering up the ultra handsome face of Ben Barnes, fear not. It’s mostly still there.
Looks like there’s an impending binge coming my way on January 18th and I’m ready for all of that shit. I know for some, the look at Jigsaw leaves a tad to be desired, but at least it’s not as bad as Dominic West from 2008’s Punisher:War Zone. Sweet shit, was that… unique.
With only one Defender left on the streaming service by way of Jessica Jones, the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix is likely its last. Then it’s only a matter of time until Frank & crew can debut on Disney+, alongside a whole batch of shows for actual Avengers.
For those unfamiliar, there’s a few shows over at Disney+ for Scarlet Witch and Vision starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Falcon and Bucky, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki in his own series. So, if you’ve got a hankering for new Marvel content, you should be well take care of when Disney+ arrives.
Until then, we’ll make do with the reality-shattering events of Avengers 4, where Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Spiderman will all be brought back to life and they’ll join Captain Marvel & the other Avengers to take down whatever threat they're facing. Plus, rumor has it there’s an extremely outside shot Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson makes his MCU appearance in that movie. So, let’s hope for some kind of miracle.
