RBatz Has Arrived! The Batman Director Shares First Look At Our New Caped Crusader!

Hello nerds!

We’ve finally got a glimpse of what Batman will look like in the forthcoming The Batman, from director Matt Reeves.

Reeves shared the first look at Robert Pattinson suited up as The Caped Crusader, from his forthcoming DC movie, “The Batman”. Complete with a somewhat Gotham-y soundtrack, the grainy footage clears as Batman comes into focus. And, for some reason, he’s bathed in red light.

It’s fairly awesome, and if you’re a fan of Detective Comics #1000, pay particular attention to the Bat-symbol on his chest.

Nice, right? Although, I would really liked to have seen the full cowl; the ears could really make or break this thing. However, upon initial viewing I like it. Granted the lighting isn’t great, so we don’t really get a real feel for the suit, but it is in no way the worst Bat-suit we’ve seen. Nor will it be the last.

The film will pick up fairly early into The Dark Knight’s career, so the Bat-suit is still a work in progress. Which could explain its somewhat low-tech look. And loathe or like the suit, I think it’s likely we see an upgraded version at some point late in the movie. Fighting all those villians is sure to require some upgraded tech from the master detective. And our new Batman, will need those skills as he’s got a hell of a long night ahead of him.

The Batman is going to be based on the The Long Halloween story from the comics. So, we’re assured to meet almost the entire Batman Rogues Gallery of villains in this one. Most importantly, Bruce/Batman’s longtime love interest/foe Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, played by Zoe Kravitz. One has to wonder, that with all of the effort going into this movie, is our new Batman set in the DC prime universe?

There’s an awful lot of setup that could be seen as a bit of waste if Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne didn’t fight alongside Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash. As always, time will tell, but I like the chances of Pattinson being our “proper” Batman for the next few years.

WB/DC’s The Batman hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
