Hello nerds!

If the trailer is any indication, we should be in for an entertaining experience next summer when Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds hits the screen.

From Disney/20th Century Fox, Free Guy tells the tale of Guy, played by Deadpool himself, who is an NPC (Non-Playable Character) in a video game called Free City. And Free City is the kind of game one would find just about everywhere these days; sort of a Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Fortnite combo. Well, Guy figures out he lives in a video game, and by doing so he becomes the hero his world needs. It’s a fairly unique concept, and it looks to be dripping in the type of humor and action one would expect from a Ryan Reynolds movie.

This is one of the first R-rated movies Disney will release after the Fox buyout, so they’ve got to be fairly confident in this one. Plus, Disney will be keeping the driving force and star behind one of its many billion dollar franchises happy. So, maybe this movie was getting released regardless. Either way, this movie could be a hell of a lot of fun.

Directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things), Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Lil Rel Howery (Bird Box), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), and the writer/director of the upcoming Thor:Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi.

Free Guy crashes into theaters on July 3, 2020.
