The Jungle Book Is In Live-Action... Again. Here's The Trailer For Mowgli

Hello nerds!

Make no mistake. This most current live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, directed by the fucking amazing Andy Serkis, is not a Disney movie. Sure, the Disney live-action movie only came out in 2016 and was a box office success, but arguably, much like the live-action Beauty and the Beast, the movie was almost an exact remake of the animated version. Mowgli is not.

Buckle up friends, because this one looks like a rollercoaster of fun.

Dude. This looks fantastic. The CGI animals actually look like they could fudge some stuff up and are genuinely scary. Plus, having an all-star cast doesn't suck either.

The movie stars Rohan Chand as Mowgli, Christian Bale as Bagheera, Naomie Harris as Nisha, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan and the man himself, Andy Serkis as Baloo.

For the adults who like films of the fantasy genre, the Serkis version looks to offer a darker take on the characters than the Jon Favreau directed film and in no way is that a bad thing. It'll be nice to see some talking animals that don't break into a fucking song and dance number every few minutes. Am I right?

Mowgli is in theaters October 19.

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.
