Will Woody Harrelson Bring The Carnage? Venom Adds An Emmy Award Winner In Mystery Role
Hello friends!
Over the summer, we told you about a pretty strong rumor that the villain of Sony's Venom, starring Tom Hardy, would be Carnage. Well, thanks to recent rumors, we may have a better idea of just exactly whom will be "suiting up" as the Spider-Man baddie and it could be an Emmy Award winner.
According to Variety, Woody Harrelson is in talks to join the Spider-Man spin-off. While the report doesn't offer any details about who Woody will be playing, the report says he'll be a "henchman of sorts". That seems like more than a stretch, given that it's Woody effing Harrelson. No, he will not be just a henchman and I think the mystery surrounding his role can mean only one thing. He's playing Carnage.
Think about it. It's not all that hard to imagine him being Cletus Kasady aka Carnage. Harrelson brings with him some serious acting talent and now I can really think of nobody better to play the horrifying, ginger, alien-symbiote covered murderer other than Woody Harrelson. Apologies to Damian Lewis.
For those who are unfamiliar, after Eddie Brock was locked up for his crimes as Venom, his pregnant alien symbiote broke him out of prison. During which, his symbiote's spawn bonded with his cellmate, a serial killing whackjob named Cletus Kasady. Kasady and the symbiote bonded to create Carnage, who is 3 times stronger than Spider-Man and Venom, can shapeshift, he's able to put thoughts into other people's minds and he's bat-shit crazy. You're right to be terrified, because that's some scary shit.
All in all, I think the R-rated Spider-Man-verse will be in good hands until our beloved Tom Holland is of proper age to curse. Until then, we'll just have to make do with Venom going toe-to-toe against Carnage. Sucks, right?
Venom swings into theaters October 5, 2018.
