An M. Night Shyamalan Shared Universe?
Are you ready for another shared universe? M. Night Shyamalan, the director of such fine movies as The Happening and Lady in the Water, looks to create a shared universe with his new movie Split. Spoilers follow, proceed with caution.
Split is the story of Kevin, a man who suffers from dissociative identity disorder and has 23 separate personalities. Kevin kidnaps three women and while holding them captive it's revealed that a 24th and extremely dangerous personality called "The Beast" will soon be unleashed. Of Course "The Beast" is set free, wreaks some havoc and goes on the lam but the real twist is what follows the films closing scene.
In a epilogue or I guess a stinger scene, David Dunn is sitting at a diner watching the news report of "The Beast". What? You don't know who David Dunn is? Well he's the main character in Shyamalan's superhero movie Unbreakable played by none other than the great Bruce Willis.
Looks like we have another shared universe on our hands. Let's hope Bruce gets to hunt down "The Beast" in a future installment.
