Doctor. Wizard. Captain. Jude Law Is Mar-Vell In Captain Marvel!
Hello nerds!
Who's got two thumbs and is quickly cementing himself in the hearts of nerds everywhere? Jude Law, that's who motherfucker.
According to Variety, Jude Law is in talks to join Brie Larson in the Marvel's Captain Marvel, as none other than Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell. The report details that Mar-Vell will serve as "a mentor of sorts to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers.". What. The. Fuck!?
So, he's young Dumbledore and an classic Marvel hero? Dude. Law brings the all-around charm, acting ability and handsomeness we've come to expect from the MCU, so it's exceedingly difficult to shit talk the decision. Come to think of it, there's not really anyone else I'd rather see play Mar-Vell.
For those unaware, Mar-Vell is the original Captain Marvel, a Kree war hero who was sent to Earth to spy on humanity, whose death was basically caused by trying to save it. Spoilers, he dies in the 80s and with the film being set in the 90s, it means we might actually get to see Jude Law suit up as the iconic hero at some point in the film.
The report also confirms that Ben Mendelsohn has signed on as the film's villain. While there's no word yet on exactly whom the Rogue One baddie will be playing, my guess is he'll be Kree and super badass.
Captain Marvel soars into theatres on March 8, 2019.
