Obi-Wan's Not Here, Mrs. Torrance. Ewan McGregor To Star In The Shining Sequel
Hello nerds!
Per a report from Variety, Ewan McGregor is set to play the grownup version of young, tortured psychokinetic, Danny Torrance from Stephen King’s The Shining. The film, Doctor Sleep, based on the novel of the same name is a sequel to the 1980 film directed by Stanley Kubrick.
This is pretty great news. McGregor is a fantastic actor and should make for a more than watchable Danny Torrance. He can do it all folks, so with the guy behind Netflix's Gerald’s Game, Mike Flanagan, set to direct his second King adaptation, we could be in for a real treat. Of the horrific, nightmare inducing variety.
And as long as Danny Torrance rocks a Jedi-beard, so as to not interfere with Ewan's future plans, I'm all for his horror movie debut being Doctor Sleep; unless you count Down with Love, which is fair. As for McGregor, he could do a lot worse than to star in a Stephen King property. Especially given how insanely popular they've gotten again thanks to the IT franchise.
$5 says we see a demonic Plymouth Fury hitting the streets in the immediate future. Any takers?
Doctor Sleep is set for release on January 24, 2020.
