It's A Kenobi? Ewan McGregor Is Close To Returning As Obi-Wan

Hello nerds!

It's as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in joy, because it’s almost official. Ewan McGregor may once again play everyone’s favorite old hermit and Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

According to Deadline, McGregor is close to returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi in his very own series on the forthcoming, Disney+. For those keeping score at home, the Kenobi Show joins a veritable smorgasbord of original content for the new streaming service. Between shows for our new Captain America, Scarlet Witch and Vision, Loki, and The Mandalorian, the House of Mouse is offering some must-see programming.

It’s been too long since we’ve seen “young” Obi-Wan, so this series is long overdue. There are no details about the series as of yet, but I expect we’ll learn more during Disney’s D23 Expo. I think McGregor’s casting will be made official at the expo, and a release date is likely coming as well. Sadly, I think given the timing of the announcement, we probably won’t see the series premiere until some time next year.

Although, it’s entirely possible we first see Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan later this December. I’ve got a hunch he shows up as a Force Ghost in The Rise of Skywalker.

Until then you can see McGregor star as Danny Torrance in the sequel to Stephen King's The Shining, Doctor Sleep in theaters on November 8, 2019.
