The Return Of Kenobi? An Obi-Wan Series Might Happen On Disney+

Hello nerds!

Between shows for our new Captain America, Scarlet Witch and Vision, Loki, and The Mandalorian, the House of Mouse is really trying to establish a dominance amongst the streaming services with some must-see programming. And if a recent rumor is to be believed, the Star Wars universe is about to get a bit bigger by way of a new series for Disney+.

According to Star Wars News Net, Lucasfilm is indeed developing an all-new series for the burgeoning streaming service featuring everyone’s favorite Jedi-hermit, one Ben Kenobi. And the last man to star as Obi-Wan is thought to be reprising the titular role.

We were told that an Obi-Wan Kenobi limited TV series is happening, is the next top priority for the Disney+ streaming service, and that it could be as many as six episodes.

Now, I recognize this is only a rumor at this point, but when you consider some other factors, the rumor starts to make more sense.

Fans may recall that some time ago, an Obi-Wan movie would happen, but as these things so the project fizzled. Apparently, the fizzling only applied to a movie for the Jedi master, as a series for makes a hell of a lot of sense. Plus, Ewan McGregor himself thinks there's a lot of story yet to be told about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and quite recently he was rocking a sweet Jedi-beard while training for an unknown project.

All in all, it’s not the biggest stretch of the imagination to think we’ve yet to see the last of the rebellious Jedi master. And while there’s always a chance he shows up as a Force Ghost in The Rise of Skywalker, I’d much rather see a series starring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. It's as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in hope. So, let’s hope they’re not eventually silenced.

In the meantime, those needing a Ewan fix can head to the cinema soon to see the forthcoming sequel to Stephen King's The Shining, starring McGregor as Danny Torrance.
