Can You Repeat That? Emperor Palpatine Trash Talks Kylo Ren In A New Teaser For The Rise Of Skywalker
Hello nerds!
In one last bit of promotion for Star Wars:Rise of Skywalker seemingly confirms a longstanding theory about the dark turn of the one they used to call Ben Solo.
Courtesy of a final teaser, we see Kylo Ren landing at some fairly Sithy-y looking destination, and it’s clear he is not there to fuck around. As he’s searching for something, or someone, we hear the dulcet tones of Emperor Palpatine as he reveals that while the voices Kylo Ren hears in his head sound like others (Supreme Leader Snoke and Darth Vader), the words are all Palpatine’s.
Shit man! What a spoiler to reveal, right? Of course this could all be clever marketing to through us off of the scent of the movie’s actual plot before its release, but it is fun to speculate.
Emperor Palpatine being responsible for turning responsible for Ben Solo to the darkside is a vastly intriguing concept, and I hope it turns out to be true. Think how much of an impact it has on the entire saga for Palpatine to be the one responsible for turning Ben into Kylo, after he failed to turn Luke so many years prior. Not to mention, it would help ease the somewhat lame way they offed Snoke in Last Jedi. All in all, I cannot wait to see this movie.
While it is a huge bummer to say goodbye to these characters in the closing chapter to the Skywalker saga, it doesn’t mean the movie will be all doom and gloom. Lots of fun will be had, and spectacle will be watched, but it might be wise to bring some tissues. This could get emotional.
And for those whom may need even more new Star Wars in their lives, there’s always The Mandalorian, and the upcoming series for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Rogue One’s Cassian Andor and K-2SO on Disney+.
Star Wars Episode IX:The Rise of Skywalker blasts its way into theaters on December 20, 2019.
