So Long, Spidey. Peter Parker Is No Longer Part Of The MCU
Hello friends!
Following the gargantuan box office success of Spider-Man:Far From Home, the working relationship between Sony and Marvel seemed to be working out quite well. So well in fact, Sony has decided end Spider-Man’s time in the MCU and keep him all to themselves. And if there’s one thing we all know, Sony needed np help to fix the failing franchise of the web-slinging superhero.
Per a report from Deadline, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will have absolutely no creative involvement on the films of our friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man. Even though Sony has a Spider-Man movie left to make with Tom Holland, there is nothing to be happy with about this unfortunate news. Oh, and director Jon Watts will no longer be involved either. Sony has once again proven they really don’t give a shit about the characters, or by extension, the fans.
In a bit of a “save their ass” move, Sony Pictures released a statement through THR, confirming the split and placing the blame for the breakup squarely on Disney’s shoulders. Even though bringing Spidey back to the MCU is what fucking saved him, and the franchise, in the first place.
Please, sir. He doesn’t want to go. And we don’t want him to leave either. There is an untold wealth of opportunity to bring some truly engaging and fantastic stories to life with Spider-Man aka Peter Parker in the MCU.
Sadly, it appears as any hopes we had of seeing Spidey re-join the Avengers, have an adventure with Deadpool, or fight alongside The Fantastic Four, are rapidly fading away. Which really sucks. Especially, after the tease of the Green Goblin and Oscorp Tower. However, there is a symbiote lining to this cloud of shit.
We’re virtually guaranteed to see Venom and Spider-Man battle it out in the near future. Even if it might not be Tom Holland playing Spider-Man. It’s highly likely that our beloved wall-crawler is Spider-Man destined for an inevitable reboot. Again.
