The Last Days Of The X-Men? The Trailer For Dark Phoenix Teases "The End"
Hello nerds!
The X-Men’s days under the control of Fox are almost over, but first they’re giving the Dark Phoenix story another go.
The trailer for Fox’s next to last installment to the X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix, features some pretty action heavy scenes, a funeral (likely Mystique’s), mutant haven Genosha and a brief glimpse or two at the classic X-Men costumes.
Well, it doesn’t look worse than X-Men: Apocalypse or Days of Future Past. Which is great, but it’s still hard to get excited for this movie. Dark Phoenix is a reboot of the shitshow that was 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. So, who really needs to see that again? Besides, it’s not like anyone in this frickin’ movie will be in the inevitable franchise reboot that’s coming in the near future.
For those unfamiliar, the X-Men and Fantastic Four are coming home to the MCU, which is obviously exciting as we’ll finally get to see almost all of the characters we know and love together on the big screen. However, it does mean yet another reboot for Marvel’s first family and the beloved mutants; outside of Deadpool’s X-Force that is. All of them are definitely returning.
Still. It’s hard to really try and care for these versions of the X-Men, when they’ll soon be a distant memory when X-Men: Dar…er, Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2018.
Curiously, the words “X-Men” have been dropped from the title. One has to wonder if Marvel is indeed prepping the team for a big debut in the MCU.
