Thrice The Companions Equals Three Times The Fun! The 13th Doctor Finds Her Humans
Hello friends!
The BBC has finally announced who will be joining the 13th Doctor in the TARDIS and it looks like the control console will be a bit crowded. By way of their Twitter, the BBC revealed that for the first time since the show's modern re-launch, the Doctor will be joined by 3 companions. That technically might be a gaggle.
Now, I know some of you are saying that there have been a few episodes where there have been more than two companions, but this is quite different since it seems that Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole and Bradley Walsh will chasing after Jodie Whitaker's 13th Doctor on the regular when the new season begins in 2018.
3 companions? The lunacy. Seriously though, the staple of a single companion and the Doctor has taken up the vast majority of the entire series. In many ways the show, and the Doctor, are partially defined by whom they spend their time with, so this is a welcome change. Especially, given the strong affinity most of us have for some of the more recent companions, Bill in particular. And speaking of changes, it seems we're in for a shortened run of sorts for the Doctor in the new season. Kind of.
According to The Mirror, Jodie Whittaker's first season will only be ten episodes, as opposed to Peter Capaldi's last three seasons, which were 12 episodes. Yes, it is less episodes, but each episode of 12's run were only 45 minutes a pop, and 13's episodes will actually be extended to full one-hour shows. According to my "math", we're in for more screen time for the Doctor in 2018 and that is effing fantastic.
I can't wait until Christmas to see what Jodie Whittaker can do as the mad woman with a box. Pass me the carver and a big pack of Tyrrells! It'll be a grand night in!
