Who Watches The Watchmen? Everyone That Has HBO. Watchmen TV Show In Development
Hello friends. It looks like HBO has a potential Game of Thrones replacement in the works and they're looking to a familiar face to flesh it out.
Writer and producer Damon Lindelof is in talks to develop a little show titled, Watchmen. Lindelof recently worked with HBO on a show he both wrote and created, The Leftovers, so it would seem they're quite comfortable with him. On top of that, this new TV show will have zero connection to the divisive 2009 movie, directed by Zack Snyder, who coincidentally was originally involved with the small-screen adaptation a few years ago that never came to be.
Sweet shit is this exciting! For various reasons, Watchmen is one of those movies that people either love or hate. There doesn't really seem to be a middle ground for fans of Alan Moore's original comic, and that includes Alan Moore as well. For those unfamiliar, he utterly loathed Snyder's film. Seriously Google it one day if you're bored. It's hilarious.
I know that as a writer Damon Lindelof has had a couple of flops (World War Z, Prometheus, Cowboys & Aliens), but he has also written Star Trek Into Darkness and several episodes of a little show he helped to create called Lost. So when he's on, he's really fucking on. All in all, this could be really great news. It's no secret that HBO will soon need a replacement for a big, budget TV show and I think Watchmen would be at perfect home on Sunday nights.
