The Dameron Knight Rises. Oscar Isaac To Join The Batman?
Hello nerds!
While the Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix will indeed be the first offering from the Warner Bros. and DC "Standalone" Universe. This movie will eventually be joined by director Matt Reeves' The Batman; which, you guessed it, is not starring Ben Affleck. And as luck would have it, someone who already has a strong foothold in another iconic franchise might be taking up the cowl.
According to a report from GWW, Oscar Isaac has been approached for an unknown role in Reeves' film, and word is Isaac is very interested. Rumor suggests Black Mask will be the main villain of The Batman and the studio is looking for an A-list actor to play it. Given Isaacs ever growing popularity and starring roles in movies, it's not outside of the realm of possibility for him to play Black Mask. Honestly, Isaac would be fantastic as Roman Sionis, but he might make an even better Dark Knight.
And if you're anything like me, you're all picturing it and smiling at the possibilities. Isaac brings a unique charm to his roles. There's always an air of brooding about him; a hint of the darkness beneath the surface, all the while he's being charming as fuck. I don't know about you, but that screams Bruce Wayne/Batman to me all day.
Matt Reeves' The Batman is still in the scripting phase, so there's no real plot details as of right now. Be sure to check back for more details as as they develop.
For now, if you've got a hankering for Isaac's other and perhaps best known role, Poe Dameron, you can catch him in Star Wars Episode IX, alongside the returning Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams as Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian.
