Galaxy Squad? James Gunn Is Headed To DC To Reboot Suicide Squad
Hello nerds!
Ever since Disney fired James Gunn, we’ve all been wondering where he would resurface. Smart money had him possibly heading back to Marvel in some capacity. Well, in a shocking move it turns out the folks over at WB/DC are looking to Gunn to fix the Suicide Squad.
According to The Wrap, James Gunn is in talks to write the script for Suicide Squad 2, as well as possibly serving as director as well. If that wasn’t enough, it might also be a reboot and if you’ve seen Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer, you’ll understand why. Suicide Squad desperately tried and failed to do for DC what Gun did for Marvel, so it really is a hell of a good call to hire the person who you tried to copy. A ragtag group of misfits, one-liners and a dope soundtrack are exactly what this guy does better than almost anybody.
Before Disney axed him, Gunn was planning out the Cosmic MCU, and given GOTG3 was supposed to set the path for the MCU’s future, he could be the key to solving the riddle WB/DC hasn’t quite been able to solve; building a cohesive shared film universe. And if you’re looking for someone to lead the charge, they could do worse than Gunn since he’s already helped build a billion dollar franchise, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
The real question we should be asking ourselves is, does Thor:Ragnarok director Taika Waititi meeting with Marvel, mean he’ll be the one guiding the MCU into the farthest reaches of the Galaxy? We can hope, folks. We can hope.
