And The Devil Makes Three. Netflix Cancels Another Marvel Show

Hello nerds!

Ever since Netflix’s sudden cancellation of both Luke Cage and Iron Fist, we were waiting to find out the fate of the remaining Defenders, plus The Punisher. And as we thought all along, Netflix has indeed cancelled Daredevil following what most are calling it’s best season. I think we all can see what’s coming for Jessica Jones and Frank Castle at this point.

To make it official, Netflix released a statement via Deadline, confirming Daredevil’s cancellation after three seasons. Oddly, they explicitly state this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Matt Murdock & friends.

Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.

To follow-up on what Netflix had to say, Marvel also released a statement about the show’s cancellation, but they too confirm there are plans to keep Daredevil around.

Marvel is extremely grateful to the huge audience that loved Marvel’s Daredevil. From the moment of young Matt’s first act of heroism to the birth of Page, Murdock, & Nelson, it has been a unbelievable journey. We are incredibly proud of the amazing showrunners and writers starting with Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie and Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio and our casts who brought our characters to life with such excellence, and every one of the fantastic crews in NYC. We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.

Netflix’s deal with Disney is over in 2020, so after Infinity War debuts on Netflix for the holidays, the MCU will be found on DIsney+, alongside new shows for Scarlet Witch and Vision starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, The Adventures of Falcon and Bucky starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki in his own series. So, for now, we wait for Netflix to cancel Jessica Jones and The Punisher, in order for them to be revived for Disney+.

Speaking of revival, when in the hell are we going to get a trailer for the reality-shattering events of Avengers 4? I mean, we all know Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Spiderman are coming back to life, and that Captain Marvel will lead the fight, so let’s get going with the frickin’ trailer already.

We could all use something glorious to end the year with that inspires hope and seeing the trailer for the last chapter in the MCU as we currently know it, would be amazing.
