First Hellboy, Now Indiana? David Harbour Wants To Be The Next Henry Jones Jr.

Hello nerds!

One of the breakout stars of Netflix's gargantuan hit Stranger Things, David Harbour, had a pretty busy 2017 and things don't look to be slowing down in 2018. The star of the upcoming Hellboy reboot was asked about the other kinds of projects he'd like to take on and the had some surprising answers.

In an interview with Collider, the actor not only shares the kinds of genres he's a fan of, but he also takes things one step further by saying that he could have some fun with a darker reboot of the adventures of one Henry Jones Jr. aka Indiana Jones.

Yeah! I love all kinds of stuff. I really am so eclectic in my taste. I love film noir, I love thrillers, and I love big blockbuster popcorn cinema stuff, but I like it when it’s twinged with a bit more social consciousness. There was some joking online, six months or a year ago, about rebooting Indiana Jones, and I would love to reboot Indiana Jones, if he was bipolar and a little bit fat and spent too much time grading papers. I would like to add some darkness to the really fun cinema that we have. In that way, that’s what drew me to Hellboy. I really like big swashbuckling superhero films, but I feel like that Marvel universe is not adult enough. Deadpool and Logan tried to take the mythos in that direction, and I wanted to do that with Hellboy. That’s what I like. I like big, fun cinema, and then I like it to have more of an adult twinge to it, which makes simple concepts, of even something like love, much more complicated than perhaps we portray it for children or teenagers. I want to do something adult and complex where there are sacrifices or things don’t always work out.

I don't know about you, but I would absolutely love to see that reboot happen. It's going to take someone insanely likeable to replace Harrison Ford, and with his portrayal of the oft times reluctant hero of Hawkins, Harbour has quickly cemented himself in our hearts and minds. If he brings the good sheriff's gruff, but lovable demeanor along with him to the role of Indiana Jones, it could translate into amazing things for the adventuring school teacher.

Harbour is looking like the guy to reboot one of the most beloved action franchises of all-time. Well, his latest reboot of "one of the most beloved franchises of all-time", that is. First up, the badass looking Hellboy, which hits theaters on January 11, 2019.
