Game of Thrones Returns in April 2019
After months of speculation, we finally have an idea as to when the final season of Game of Thrones will air. HBO has announced that season 8 of the blockbuster series will premier in April of 2019. In addition, HBO has provided a teaser trailer for the series.
The video (see below), teases the final season. Note: The video does not contain any new footage, so it’s not a season 8 trailer. Instead, it sets the stage for the final season with footage from past seasons highlighting what various characters have done in their quest for survival and power. However is doesn’t fail to make all the more excited for the final season to begin.
This coming season will be the final chapter of the Game of Thrones series. Many of the story lines should be wrapped up in only six episodes. The final season also promises one of the most epic battles never before seen in the series. According to denofgeek.com, the production team “spent 55 days of principal photography on a major battle, which filmed at the Moneyglass Base in Northern Ireland. For context that is longer than any major battle filmed for the premium cable epic. Not "Battle of the Bastards," nor "Blackwater," or "Watchers on the Wall" compare. So expect something truly epic, especially as we know Moneybase has long been where sets for Winterfell have been built.”
As if I wasn’t excited enough for this season to begin…wow!
As with any series coming to an end, it will be hard for all of us fans to say goodbye to characters, good or bad, we have watched develop over these past years; however fans may not have to say goodbye to the saga entirely. It is reported that HBO is working on a prequel series based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series. Naomi Watts has already signed on to star in the new series. This series is not expected to air however, until 2020.
We will keep you all posted as more details become available. Until then, we are counting the days until April, 2019 gets here.
