Guillermo Del Toro Returns To Horror. Here's The Trailer For Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Hello nerds!

The official trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has arrived and the live action version of Alvin Schwartz's stories looks positively frightening. The movie is written and produced by the legendary Guillermo del Toro, with André Øvredal directing.

For those unfamiliar, when he’s writing and directing a stop-motion musical version of Pinocchio, del Toro is no stranger to the horror genre having been responsible for several amazing horror films. His films weave effortlessly between the dramatic and the scary, and are always steeped in the fantastic and supernatural. I adore his movies. Not to mention, he’s even done a couple that are both horror and superhero movies with the original Hellboy series.

So, he’s the natural choice to bring a truly haunting “children’s” book to life.

Guillermo del Toro‘s Scary Stories hits theaters on August 9 2019.

It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
