It's Rampage Done Right In The Trailer For Godzilla Vs Kong

Hello nerds!

The first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong has arrived and if you’re a fan of giant monsters beating the crap out of each other, look no further.

Directed by Adam Wingard, and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, the next installment of Legendary’s Monsterverse will be its biggest yet (apologies) as the two most iconic giant monsters in pop culture will come face to face. Again. For those unfamiliar, it already happened in 1962’s King Kong vs. Godzilla.

In the 2020 version, Earth’s giant-lizard guardian, Godzilla, has turned big bad and our only hope is another large monster. Luckily, the monster-hunting group known as Monarch is bringing King Kong from Skull Island to go toe to toe with Godzilla. Obviously, the fight has to take place in the middle of human civilization. And the trailer is stuffed with the sorts of grandeur and spectacle that only a kaiju fight can produce.

Some notable highlights are Kong wielding his own Stormbreaker (which looks like one of Godzilla’s plates jammed onto a tree), Avengers-level destruction of parts of the world, humans trying to do what they can to “help”, some bonus monsters, and a couple of glimpses of Mechagodzilla.

$5 says Mechagodzilla is the real villain, which means Kong and Godzilla will have team up defeat the metal monstrosity, and there might not be an actual winner of the supersized showdown between the two.

Starring Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler and Demián Bichir Godzilla vs Kong hits theaters and streaming on HBOMax on March 26, 2021.

Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.
