Jedi Junkie? Mark Hamill Confirms Luke's Instrument Of Demise

Hello nerds!

Some of you should prepare yourselves, because you may not care for what your about to read. For those of who who haven’t seen the film, spoilers, Luke Skywalker dies in The Last Jedi. No shit, right? Well, it’s the exact way in which the man who played Luke views his death that some may find a tad unsettling.

As shown in the pages of Marvel’s The Last Jedi comic and shared by the Jedi master himself, Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker essentially died of a “Force OD” after projecting himself to Crait to battle his nephew, Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren.

And so the lifeforce slays the master? As sad as an interpretation as this is for the demise of last true Jedi, there’s something poetic about it. And it’s not like Luke going out in such a fashion means that’s the last we’ll see of him.

For those unfamiliar, Leia and Luke will both return in Star Wars:Episode IX, with Carrie Fisher and Hammill playing them. And they’ll be joined by the beloved former Baron Administrator of Cloud City, Lando Calrissian, played by the great Billy Dee Williams. Plus, with an outside shot Obi-Wan could appear alongside the other returning faces in Episode IX, the closing chapter to the Skywalker saga could be fantastic.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
