Miles Morales Goes Muliversal In the First Look At Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)
Hello nerds!
Sony is starting the holiday season off right by giving the world a great gift with a first look at the highly anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
For many, Into The Spider-Verse is one of the best animated superhero movies of all-time, and for good reason. The first film featured truly groundbreaking animation, an engaging and inspiring story, and the voice cast was fantastic.
Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld were perfect as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. And they were joined by other Spider-people, led by Peter B. Parker voiced by Jake Johnson, and our beloved Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir. Plus, the amazing Kathryn Han was one of the film’s baddies as Olivia Octavius. Happily, the potential sequel that was teased at the end of Into The Spider-verse has finally arrived.
In the footage, things pick up right where the left off at the end of the previous film; after saving the multiverse, Miles is drifting off to sleep when Gwen Stacy re-appears via a portal and tells him there’s work to do.
Then we see Miles blasted through the multiverse, only to end up in NYC 2099, where he is being pursed by the Spidey of that time, Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Poe Dameron himself, Oscar Isaac. I can’t wait to see where this film takes us, as the possibilities are literally endless. Odds are we’ll meet a lot of new faces, and likely see some familiar ones as well.
Word has it Issa Rae has joined the movie as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, and Jake Johnson will reprise his role as Peter B. Parker. Let’s hope we also get more of Spider-Man Noir, and if we’re really dreaming, that our current live-action Spider-Man, Tom Holland, shows up as well.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) swings into theaters on October 7, 2022.
