No Helmet, Still Great. Leaked Set Video Shows Mysterio In Spider-Man: Far From Home
Hello nerds!
Courtesy of some leaked set video and photos from the set of Spider-Man: Far From Home, we can confirm Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck aka Mysterio will have a near off the page look.
Twitter user Martin Knap has shared our first, and unofficial, gander at the latest villain to cross paths with the newly returned to life, Spider-Man. The video and images are a tad on the grainy side, but we can clearly see the latest member of the Sinister Six to make his MCU debut is only a fishbowl helmet away from being a near match to his comic book counterpart.
In the video, we also get a better look at Spider-Man in “stealth” mode. There’s a lot of speculation this is indeed an all-new black suit, but with the appearance of Maria Hill and Nick Fury in this one, Spider-Man might be working for SHIELD. Much like his animated counterpart on Disney.
Nice. The only way to really bring a costume like Mysterio’s is to be as faithful to the comic as possible. An outfit like his could very easily be made to look very, very stupid, but I think they’ve nailed it. There’s a strong chance we see Mysterio don the helmet as well, but this is a great starting point for his debut. So far, Sony has upped their game for this latest version of Spidey, so let’s hope they keep it up and avoid the pitfalls that plagued the previous versions. Even if this film is overflowing with villains.
For those unfamiliar, The Vulture and possibly Scorpion and Chameleon are set to be in this film as well. Also, let’s not forget about Hydro-Man’s rumored appearance. All in all, it seems like Sony is setting up for a future Sinister Six movie. And we didn’t even mention the universe Sony is building for Spider-Man’s eventual shift from the MCU, where Venom will be the anti-hero of sorts. For a guy who isn’t officially alive, Spider-Man is very busy.
Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 swings into theaters on July 5, 2019 and picks up moments after the end of Avengers 4, where Captain Marvel will lead the returning Avengers in a fight against Thanos to “un-dust” those who were wiped from existence at the end of Infinity War.
