Who's Ready? Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 Is Officially Happening

In a more than welcomed announcement, it’s been revealed that a sequel to the absolutely spectacular, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, is finally getting a sequel.
Sony Pictures Animation took to their Twitter announce the new movie, and even better, we’ve got an official release date.
While this announcement may be long overdue, that doesn’t make it any less exciting. Given how much money the first Into The Spider-Verse hauled in, a sequel was all but assured.
For many, myself included, Into The Spider-Verse is arguably the best animated superhero of all-time, and it might even be the best superhero movie of 2018. And considering the other superheroes movie that came out that year, that’s really saying something.
The first film featured truly groundbreaking animation, and the voices of behind our heroes and the other characters of that world were cast about as good as you’ll find in a superhero movie. Anywhere. Shameik Moore is the perfect Miles Morales, and the chemistry he had with other other Spider-Folks of that film, mainly Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, was fantastic. Plus, it featured my beloved Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir. So, there are more than a few reasons to adore the first movie, and eagerly await its sequel.
There’s no word on a plot for Into the Spider-Verse 2, but one has to think the original crew of Spider-Heroes from the first one will return in the second. Here’s hoping we get to see a hell of a lot more of Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Poe Dameron himself, Oscar Isaac. And if we’re really dreaming, our current live-action Spider-Man will show up as well.
Into The Spider-Verse 2 hits theaters on April 8, 2022.
