Outstanding! A Breakfast Clubber Meets The Boogeyman In Halloween Kills
Hello nerds,
Move over Paul Rudd, because there’s a new Tommy Doyle in the proverbial house. And he’ll be played by a true icon of the 80s. This time around, the Boogeyman just may get him for sure.
Per a report from Variety, none other than Anthony Michael Hall (National Lampoon’s Vacation, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science) is the latest actor to take on the role of Tommy Doyle in the forthcoming, Halloween Kills. For those unfamiliar, Tommy Doyle was the boy Laurie Strode was babysitting and protecting in the original classic film from John Carpenter.
Hall makes the third person to play Tommy Doyle, as he was played by Brian Andrews in Halloween 1978, and later by the adorable Paul Rudd in the ill-conceived, 6th installment of the franchise, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.
Thankfully, since Halloween 2018 is a direct sequel to John Carpenter's Halloween, there technically is no longer a Halloween 3, 4, 5, or 6. So, there’s no lingering funk on the character from the most recent film he was in (Not Paul Rudd’s fault). And given the how super badass Lori Strode was in Halloween 2018, played brilliantly by Jamie Lee Curtis, this version of Tommy Doyle should be almost as much of a badass as Lori is.
No matter how you slice it, the reunion of Tommy Doyle and Laurie Strode in Halloween Kills should make for some frightening and intense moments. And I sort of can’t wait to see it.
David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are back to write the script for this one, with David Gordon Green also returning to the director’s chair.
Halloween Kills hacks its way into theaters on October 16, 2020.
