The Daywalker Strikes Again? Kevin Feige Talks About Blade's Potential Return

Hello friends!

Remember Blade aka the first successful Marvel movie? Me too and like me I'm sure you've been pining away for the half-vampire badass to make his way into the MCU. Well, it would seem that these feelings are also shared by the one man who can see them turn into reality.

In an interview with Arrow In The Head, MCU head honcho Kevin Feige, has some encouraging words about the character of Blade, his place amongst the Marvel movies and it seems that we might not have seen the last of the daywalker.

We think it would be cool. Someday. My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise. That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, “It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.” Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.

I've said several times that Blade is nearly tailor–made for the more adult themed Marvel properties on Netflix. Putting Blade there and giving them the freedom to be "R-rated" and go as horror as they would like could result in one of the best offerings from Marvel/Netflix. Think about it. Blade slicing and dicing those sexy vampires in all the fantastically gory ways our eyes can handle... Sounds heavenly.

The real question is do they bring back Blade V.1 himself, Wesley Snipes? Snipes has been vocal about wanting to don the iconic haircut and shades, even taking to Twitter, where he said the call to bring him back for another round of karate vampire fighting was Marvel's to make.

What do you think? Does Netflix feel like a better home for Blade than the big screen? Is Snipes a bit too long in the tooth to suit back up and kick some vampire ass? Who would you cast to play the daywalker? Fingers crossed we get to find out. Soon.
