The Flash Lives! WB Has Found A Writer, Director, & Star
Hello nerds!
It seems they’ve finally found a director for the long-languishing Flash solo movie. Not only that, but apparently there isn’t a need to find a new Barry Allen either. Classic Warner Bros.
Per a report from THR, the director of the IT franchise, Andy Muschietti, is in talks to direct The Flash, with Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey) writing an all-new script. Surprisingly, WB may not be looking for a new Flash after all as word has it Ezra Miller is still Barry Allen, aka The Fastest Man Alive.
Last we heard, Miller partnered with comic book writer Grant Morrison to work on a darker script for the Scarlet Speedster’s first solo outing, and if WB didn't like it, Miller’s time in the DCEU was thought to be up. So, Christian Hodson being brought on to write the script, it seems WB didn’t go for a more brooding film. But, the report states Miller is very much still attached to the project.
So, the studio is doing what they can to retain the rising star for the DCEU. Which is likely the right move, because if they lost Miller as The Flash, he would make the third member of the OG Justice League to be recast. For those unfamiliar, Henry Cavill’s time as Superman is over and Ben Affleck will not be returning as Batman.
Thankfully, both Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman ‘84, and Jason Momoa Aquaman 2 are coming together nicely, and with James Gunn directing the Suicide Squad, Joaquin Phoenix killing it as The Joker, and The Sandman on Netflix, DC live-action looks to be headed in the right direction.
Don’t call it a comeback.
