The Multiverse Arrives In The New Trailer For Spider-Man:Far From Home

Hello nerds!

Now that he’s been un-dusted thanks to the events of the utter spectacle that is Avengers:Endgame, it’s time for Spider-Man to get back to work. But first, a European vacation with a side of espionage and superheroics, and multiversal travel. I’m not sure the where the MCU is going following Endgame, but I like the direction Spider-Man looks to be headed in.

Picking up directly after the events of Avengers:Endgame, Spider-Man:Far From Home is going to deal with the aftermath of Iron Man’s sacrifice. And from the looks of it, a big part of that will be the people of New York, and S.H.I.E.L.D., looking to Tony Stark’s protege to be the new Armored Avenger. No pressure, right?

Well, Peter Parker and some of his friends having recently re-joined the land of the living, decide to go on vacation. And as these do in the MCU, a plot unfolds, villains rise, and our heroes must shed any semblance of a personal life to suit up and get shit done. Luckily, Peter’s got Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., and Happy Hogan to try and fill the Iron Man-shaped hole in Spider-Man’s life.

Speaking of a mentorship, the trailer reveals Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck aka Mysterio has arrived from another Earth; seemingly to show Spider-Man the ropes in dealing with some pretty formidable new threats. Yes, friends. The long-hinted at Marvel Multiverse might finally be ready for the big screen. Or, it’s just a clever ruse put on by the real villain of the film, Mysterio. And if the rumors of Vulture, Scorpion and Chameleon making an appearance are true, then we’re getting very close to the formation of The Sinister Six.

And if my eyes don’t deceive, it certainly looks like the old Avengers Tower being repaired in the background. So, given we know an unidentified party bought the building at the end of Spider-Man:Homecoming, is it too much to hope that its new owners are Oscorp?

Spider-Man:Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2, 2019.
