It's Joker Adjacent. Hear Chucky's Laugh In This Motion Poster For Child's Play 2019

Hello nerds!

At long last, we finally know what the sinister, little, plastic, murder-machine’s laugh will sound like in 2019’s Child’s Play.

For those unaware, Mark Hamill aka Luke Skywalker, is the new voice of Chucky. And given how infamous the original voice of Chucky was/is, courtesy of the spectacular Brad Dourif, Hamill’s hiring was an adept move by the studio. If the wrong person had been hired to replace Dourif, this reboot would’ve most certainly been doomed from jump.

Well, the man they sometimes call Jedi has a storied, and celebrated career as a voice actor. So much so, he’s arguably the best to ever play The Joker. And after his announcement that he would be the new voice of the maniacal little bastard, anticipation levels for this latest reboot of a beloved horror franchise started to build. But then we got the moderately bland first trailer, and anticipation waned.

Well, courtesy of a brand-new motion poster for the movie, we’ve got our first sampling Hamill’s version of “the laugh”. As expected, it does not suck. In fact, there’s some subtle hints of Mr. J in there. And you can tell Hamill’s only scratching the surface with this one. It stands to reason, the movie will feature more than a few full-on maniacal laughs from walking, stabby-Alexa.

Child’s Play hacks its way into theaters on June 21, 2019.
